Ache Hour Credo was a emo/punk band from Victoria, B.C. After Dave Wenger left Breakwater, he formed Ache Hour Credo; a noisey, seminal punk band that incorporated elements of outsider music and no-wave, bridging the musical gap between Breakwater and his next project Daddy's Hands (who shared members and covered the Ache Hour Credo song "Strangled Planet"). Their sound could be compared to bands like Lync and early Modest Mouse; however, the band put their own unique twist on this sound by mixing climactic, melancholic melodies with Unwound-esque interplay and Wenger's signature sardonic lyrics.
The use of saxophone in their songs is also incredibly unique and works brilliantly in the context of the music, same with the boy-girl vocal dynamics (both traits continuing on with Daddy's Hands). Unfortunately, at the time being, the only way to listen to their discography is through a mediocre rip of a bootlegged cassette tape; but the lo-fi nature of the tape may or may not compliment the songs presented. Overall Ache Hour Credo was an excellent and shockingly overlooked addition to the d.i.y scene in B.C, Contributing some truly amazing songs that shouldn't be forgotten anytime soon.

Bootleg Discography ?
I would like to know how someone managed to bootleg their unreleased material into a tape and then do a rip that someone found and put it on youtube
ReplyDeleteProb a friend?
And yeah they are massively overlooked inside the emo scene while having songs that are better than 95% of it. Sad shit. Benju & the Pigman forever
Since I think the guy on the cover of the tape is the same as in the Back cover of intelligent and powerful. Someone really close to them
DeleteAlso, is there live material?
