Nexus 6 - Discography (1995-1998)

Nexus 6 was a hardcore band from Half Moon Bay, California who were only briefly active in the 90s. Featuring members of Funeral Diner, I Wrote Haikus About Cannibalism In Your Yearbook and Portraits Of Past; the band released a split 12" with Funeral Diner and a 5-song CD (with a live set as the 6th track) both posthumously in 1999.

Filling in the gap after Portraits Of Past's demise and before Funeral Diner's reign; Nexus 6 is an overlooked gem. You can definitely hear similarities to Portraits Of Past and Funeral Diner in their work but they're by no means the same. Three of their members did vocals as well as played bass and guitar which makes for an interesting, layered sound. Despite featuring members of such prolific hardcore bands, I hear Nexus 6 spoken about very little.

The Nexus 6 / Funeral Diner split was released in 1999 despite the Nexus 6 side being recorded much earlier in 1996. It's an interesting split because you can hear the difference in style and sound based on the years they were recorded. Funeral Diner's side is very much stylistically in the late 90s/early 2000s era of hardcore while Nexus 6 has a sound much more reminiscent of the earlier 90s. That being said they compliment each other well and it's become one of my favourite releases as of late.

If anyone has any photos, fliers or live footage of the band please send them our way!
