Fieldtree was an indie-rock/emo band from Detroit, Michigan. Out of their peers in the talented and storied Michigan hardcore scene; Fieldtree was an anomaly to say the least. The band refused to be defined or stick to a single sound, style or genre throughout their 5 year reign. The only unifying trait of Fieldtree's music is their musical tightness and their impressively versatile songwriting skills.
Despite consistently releasing some of the most unique "emo" material of the mid-late 90s, Fieldtree seems to be close to forgotten in this little sphere of archival bloggers and aficionados. It's a real shame because Fieldtree had the best of all worlds represented over their impressively large discography; Fieldtree toyed with math-rock leanings, soft indie love songs, space rock and straight up screamo and did a great job with all.
