Remingtin / Blow Up - Discography (1993-2002)

Remingtin

Blow Up

Remingtin (AKA Remingtin: West Fucking Triad) was a band from Columbus, Ohio. The band was active from 1993-1999 and again in 2001-2002, with a new 4th member, under the name Blow Up. Remingtin had releases on many iconic labels, including Planaria, Blood Of The Young, Voice Of The Sky and Witching Hour, but never really seemed to get the credit they deserved. The band started out in 1993, with their the 1996 7" toting a early 90s emocore sound with high pitched shrieks that could be compared to bands like Indian Summer or demo-era Portraits Of Past.

On Remingtin's later material, they began adopting a much darker, faster and heavier sound that was refreshingly unique and polished in the glut of the late 90s screamo scene; most likely owing to the fact that they were a well established band that had time to get creative and very tight knit instrumentally. At this stage the band could be compared to late 90s giants like Jerome's Dream and Amalgamation; albeit stronger instrumentally. On these later releases is where Remingtin truly starts to succeed as a unique and compelling band. I was so happy when I dug my copy of the Book Of Dead Names split 7" out of a tshirt shop in small town B.C.
