Wrought: Ironsmile was an emo/hardcore band from Victoria, British Columbia. The band was active in the late 90s and toured regularly, including in parts of the US. Their discography consists of a split tape with Warsaw Union, a discography tape, two 7"s, two compilation tracks and a split 7" with Die Kosmo Gesellschaft.
Wrought: Ironsmile was one of those bands that really walked the line between hardcore and "emo" with screamed vocals and soft, slower guitar riffs and instrumentals. They were similar to Indian Summer in that they alternated between quieter instrumentals and sung vocals, with louder screams and more intense, pained guitarwork. They sounded similar to a lot of what Ebullition and Gravity were putting out at the time; however, they really managed to stand out by using screamed vocals and soft guitars simultaneously. Although it's a little unconventional, the lack of the overpowering hardcore instrumentals allows the angry and tense vocals to come out more, and paired with the melancholic instrumentals it makes for a sound that oozes with emotion and angst.
They also accompanied their cutting edge sound with a flute on their split tape with Warsaw Union which works strangely well. Throughout their active years their sound shifted a little away from emo and became more post rock influenced but they never wavered in their talent and great execution of what they were doing. Wrought: Ironsmile shared labels with fellow Victoria band, and one of my personal favourites, The Republic Of Freedom Fighters as well as Ethel Meserve of Pennsylvania.

I believe the former members of Wrought: Ironsmile will officially rerelease their recorded works in the future... hopefully.
