Blackjackaction was a hardcore band from San Fransisco, California. The band notably featured Jeremy Miller of Julia and Lumber fame. Blackjackaction is a band has been sadly overlooked and under appreciated; although its lineage is undeniably influential and the music itself is impressive to say the least. Blackjackaction, much like Perillisum Cantos, dwelled in obscurity until an unreleased 97' session was recently unearthed and reissued (or just issued?) by the Russian label Polar Summer.
The aforementioned unreleased session shows a wealth of progression from the band when compared to their earlier ST 7"; the use of dual male-female vocals and unconventional time signatures really sets Blackjackaction apart from the rest of the scene. I guess you could compare them to bands like Shroomunion, but only by their clear ingenuity, uniqueness and lack of conformity. I would wholeheartedly recommend this band to any fan of Julia, as it is clear this band served as a sort of progression from the experimental and emotional vibe that Julia had going on.
