Examination Of The... - Discography (2000-2003)

Examination Of The... was a hardcore band from Sioux Falls, South Dakota who were active in the early 2000s. The band included members of The Spirit Of Versailles and In Loving Memory. They released two full-length albums, a demo and two EPs (One split with In Loving Memory) before they split up sometime in 2003.

Their early work was reminiscent of bands like In Loving Memory or The Spirit Of Versailles with a slightly metallic touch to its instrumentals along with fast-paced shrieks. Their later work drew more inspiration from sludge bands while remaining a hardcore band and finally, their last released album moved into post-rock territory. Despite their movement across a few different genres, all their works remain under the same post-hardcore umbrella.

Examination Of The... are interesting because they kind of have one foot in the emo/hardcore door but remain outside the circle of attention due to their more metal and sludge influence. I generally can't get into sludge or metal but Examination Of The... have that perfect mix of heavy-hitting, hardcore with just a touch of the metallic edge. Their post-rock-sounding album is also really interesting and different from the rest of their work.
