June Paik was an emo/hardcore band from Donauwörth, Germany, who were active throughout the 2000s. They released a demo, two albums, two EPs and two splits (with Titan and Battle Of Wolf 359) over the years they were active.
June Paik had a very dark, emotive and atmospheric sound, which moved even further in this direction in their later releases. There is notable inspiration from slow post-rock and even the atmospheric buildups of black metal, but the most clear inspiration comes from 90s bands like One Eyed God Prophecy and Union Of Uranus, Orchid and Funeral Diner. The slow, droning buildups erupt into chaotic, heavy noise. While their earlier releases could be considered a bit derivative of the bands mentioned above, June Paik really settled in to their post-rock laden sound and became one of the most influential late 00s bands in the scene.
