Edgar was a hardcore band from Oceanside, New York who were active for a few brief years in the 1990s. They only ever released one split 7" with fellow Oceanside hardcore band Tetsuo in 1995 and then in 2019 they released a cassette containing live tracks and all their recorded works.
Edgar had an intense, heavy sound with brutal guitar riffs and fast drums mixed with emo influenced, screamed vocals. They walked the line between more classic style hardcore that was popular at the time, and the more underground "emocore".
Their split with Tetsuo is a great release and the bands compliment each other really well. It's also really great that they were able to release a discography in 2019 including their unreleased tracks because prior to that their discography was disappointingly small.
Edgar played shows with Coleman, Monster X, Garden Variety, Eucharist, Tetsuo and many more great bands in their active years.
