Long Live Nothing - Discography (2000-2001)

Long Live Nothing was a hardcore band from Chicago, Illinois who were active briefly in the early 2000s. The band featured members of Charles Bronson, The Lazarus Plot, Pelican and Dangermouse. They released a split 7" with The Lazarus Plot and a 12" album. They also recorded a second album which was never released and has unfortunately yet to surface online.

Long Live Nothing, unlike Charles Bronson is relatively slow and melodic and opts for harsh screamed vocals rather than the sporadic punky style of Charles Bronson. The bands are alike, however, in that they both use a lot of samples. At times Long Live Nothing almost sounds slightly metal-influenced with its melodic guitar riffs but they balance it out with their raw, shrill vocals leaving them with quite an interesting sound.

Despite their brief existence and the lack of recognition they get, their work really stands out to me. I think they fit in nicely with some of the more well-known noisy, experimental hardcore from the 90s like Hose.Got.Cable or Honeywell. Despite having members of more popular bands, Long Live Nothing seems to kind of been forgotten to time which is a shame. Listen below!
