Hose.Got.Cable - Discography (1992-1995)

Hose.Got.Cable was an experimental post-punk/hardcore band from Richmond, Virginia who were active in the early to mid 1990s. Their discography includes a 12", a 7", a 2x7" and a discography CD released in 2005 long after their break up. They also appeared on four compilations.

Their 12", which is a favourite of mine, was on Old Glory Records along with countless other great bands like Iconoclast, Merel, Avail, In/Humanity, Assfactor 4, the list goes on.

Hose.Got.Cable is one of the most interesting bands I've ever heard. They mix elements of hardcore, post-punk, electronic, emo, math rock and noise all into a jumble of sounds that somehow work together wonderfully. Some tracks consist of just noise and experimental instrumentations while others lay screamed vocals over top of the chaotic music.

As put by guitarist/vocalist Chris Wade "i think the defining thing about our sound is that we tried to avoid the standard power chord in favor of those emo-ey octave chords and stuff. not that i really know what i'm talking about…basically we just would put our fingers in weird positions and see what happened."

They sound a little like Subtracttozero or Honeywell side project Volume 11 at times but a little less heavy and somehow more approachable than either. Despite their unconventional sound, they aren't hard to get into at all. Maybe I'm biased but despite the vast mix of sounds they blend, they blend all of the elements so seamlessly it really stays with you.

Members of the band were also in emo band Groove and noise rock band, Men's Recovery Project along with members of Born Against.

If you haven't checked out Hose.Got.Cable yet, I highly recommend them even if you're not a fan of noise or experimental hardcore. They somehow just have the perfect balance.

As always we ask if you have any better quality scans (especially of their 7"s) please send them to us! These are just placeholders from Discogs until I get my hands on a copy of everything or we find better scans. Some of the links will be to the band's Bandcamp for the time being, they recently transfered most of their releases from the original DATs.

Thank you! Just checking: have the bandcamp links always been online-only (no FLAC options)?

sorry for my late response to this! Unfortunately as far as I'm aware, yes.
