Watership Down - Discography (1997-2003)

Watership Down was an emo/hardcore band from Wantagh, New York who were active from around 1997-2003 and released one three song 7" and appeared on a sampler CD before disbanding. Sometime around 2012, a bootleg discography with unreleased tracks leaked online. The band's 7" was released on Immigrant Sun Records along with Hourglass and Sarin.

Watership Down combined hardcore instrumentals with whiny, "emo" vocals to create a sound that sits somewhere in between hardcore and more indie rock style emo. The second track on their 7", "Spoken Silence" is probably my favourite track, I love the slow, melodic guitar that builds up to the loud chorus where dual vocals alternate, one singing, one screaming.

If I had to compare them to anything I'd say Still Life has a similar sound going, but Watership Down stands out on their own. Their discography is unfortunately very small for such a promising band and there doesn't seem to be a lot of info about them around. They're definitely worth checking out.

Edit: we will update this post with our rip of the 7" in the near future. We weren't aware that the version on the discography was a rip.
