Symptom Of Isaac was a short lived emotive hardcore band from Politiers, France which featured one member of Vanilla. Their discography consist of one self-titled 7" and a split tape with Ananda which included both bands' live sets from a show on May 30th, 1995 as well as Ananda's demo.
Symptom Of Isaac definitely fit in with the emotional hardcore scene of 1990s France, but if I had to compare their sound to someone I would say Weep. Their songs are so emotionally charged and passionate and you can hear it in the way the vocalist shrieks like he's on the verge of tears. The combination of powerful, heavy instrumentals and vocals dripping with anger and sadness makes for an unforgettable combo and Symptom Of Isaac really does this well.
The French hardcore scene of the 90s never ceases to impress me, it's hard to name even one band from the period that I don't love. There are a lot of hidden gems that fly under the radar and don't get enough credit and I think Symptom Of Isaac is one of them.
