Breakwater - Discography (1994-1996)

Breakwater was a band from Victoria B.C in Canada that shared members with The Republic of Freedom Fighters. Dave Wenger, who played on the first demo and 7", also played in a few notable B.C. punk bands like M Blanket, Ache Hour Credo and Daddy's Hands. Breakwater played an impressive blend of emo, hardcore and post-rock and influenced an incredible amount of bands in the years after they broke up.

There isn't any other band that sounds quite like Breakwater (except, maybe From Maggy To Margaret); they seamlessly combine elements of post-rock, noise and hardcore to create a sound that is so dense it could be compared to black metal. The 7" is extremely sought after and one of the most popular releases in this genre. I am grateful that a Canadian band is so appreciated among collectors and fans. Three songs still remain unconverted on their original DAT tapes. Hopefully one day the former members of Breakwater will consent to sharing these but in the meantime they remain lost.

The 7" was released on Static Records which had an impressive catalog featuring bands like Frail, Elements Of Need, Seraphim, Coleman, Amber Inn and The Fisticuffs Bluff
