Frail was a true staple of the DIY hardcore scene in the 1990s, seamlessly blending straightforward, heavy hardcore guitars riffs and drums with painfully raw, emotional hardcore vocals. Frail has some of my favourite vocals in the 90s hardcore scene. Something about the way they're screamed is so full of emotion and power and they have that desperation to them that not many bands could pull off. I'd compare their vocals to Weep or Griver who are also some of my favourites.
Frail is one of the more approachable bands of this branch of hardcore I'd say, because of their clear influence from more mainstream hardcore bands of the time, however they still have that emotional drive that make them fit more in with the diy/emotional hardcore bands. They do a great job of having that powerful, strong spirit while also screaming about their deepest emotions. They were also a staple in the straight edge scene back in the day, which was a huge trend and still is to some extent, but Frail was serious about it. It genuinely meant something to them and it's evident in their music.
Another thing I really love about Frail is the amount of effort that went into the booklets and inserts in all their 7"s. They never skimped on the political rants and amazing artwork to go along with them. Hopefully you can admire them as much as I do in the scans below.
You can find some more info on Frail here.
