Peu Être was an emotional hardcore band from Niort, France who existed from around 1994-1997. While active they released a split tape with Robot-Monster, a split live tape with Undone, a three way split CD with Carther Matha and Rachel, a split 7" with Anomie, a self-titled 7", and finally a self-titled 10" of their songs off the three way split CD. Members of Peu Être were also in Carther Matha, Alcatraz, Amanda Woodward and Rachel.
Peu Être was a staple of the 1990s French hardcore scene, with their anxious intensity, heavy instrumentals and dual vocals that sound like they might break down into sobs at any moment. Mixing sounds of pure anger and passion with softer more emotional parts they really nailed the emo/hardcore sound. France definitely knew what it was doing when it came to hardcore in the 1990s, some of the best bands of the decade came from France if you ask me.
All of the members' other bands were also great, Alcatraz is another all time favourite, but there is something unique about Peu Être. The amalgamation of talented musicians in the band really come together in their music and they made some of the best DIY hardcore out of France at the time in my
opinion.
I haven't been able to track down a live video for Peu Être, not sure if there are any but if anyone finds one let me know so I can link it!
