The Sky By Sorella was a indie/emo/slowcore band from Kalamazoo, Michigan. The band formed after the demise of another band called Daredevil, that featured members of Indian Summer and Ordination Of Aaron. Daredevil showed clear influence on the sounds contained in this 7"; it seems that frontman Billy Sprague wasn't quite ready to part with that particular sound after Daredevil broke up. They played a brand of slowcore that married the melodies and emotion of Ordination of Aaron with slow tempos and droning vocals. This little 2 song 7" is one of my favourites, expertly blending influences from many different sources to create a great, desolate sounding atmosphere. Dark Before Home is my favourite track.
The Closer 7" that came out on arcade kahka is very similar to this release; with the mostly the same members playing instrumental, shoegaze influenced slowcore. Check out that one too if you enjoy this release
