The Lazarus Plot - Discography (1997-1999)

The Lazarus Plot was a emocore band from Elgin, Illinois. The band played a unique style of emocore that was incredibly introspective, emotive and sensitive to a fault. The lyrics are pour your heart out into the dark dramatic and the start/stop instrumentals accompanying fits them perfectly. Slow, meandering and twinkling build ups release into shrieking climaxes that make your hair stand on end. The Lazarus Plot made some of the most downright gut-wrenching and emotional songs of the genre, with some viewing them as genius and others as downright cringy. Either way you can appreciate how dedicated the band was to their drab, dejected aesthetic and poetic nature.

Another thing to note about this band was their commitment to the D.I.Y lifestyle; with their 7" releases being haphazardly constructed from pop boxes and containing 40+ page zines (which will be included below). One more fun fact: the song Lifted by Bright Eyes is about the lead singer of this band.

This discography is incomplete and unlikely to be completed anytime in the near future. To my knowledge there was a demo tape that exists but has yet to be digitized and spread online.

Unfortunately due to folks on discogs paying incredulous amounts of money for this bands releases, they seem to be almost unattainable for the average person. I also heard the members of this band are a bit unimpressed by their efforts and don't like to think about it anymore; so the likelihood of a discography remaster/repress is low. So enjoy their available releases here, in the highest quality possible, while still being able to make your rent...

I don't agree with your assessment as to why they haven't digitized their music. By coincidence I bought this album from one of the band members on Discogs, Kenny, and asked him if he would consider putting their music up online. He seemed interested in the idea but told me that he wouldn't know where to start or how to do it. That's also not my area of expertise so I couldn't help with that. His username on discogs is Midwest79 if that's something anyone can assist with.

I'm really interested in their discography but what I'm more interested in is the vocalist. Is she even alive? I cant find her anywhere in the internet, does anyone know if she was in any other project other than lazarus plot and long live nothing?

@autopsyy I talked with someone claiming to know some of the band members and he said that Laura, the vocalist, moved to California at some point. Supposedly the band has been in contact with each other more recently.
