The Lazarus Plot was a emo/hardcore band from Elgin, Illinois. The band played a unique style of emocore that was incredibly introspective, emotive and sensitive to a fault. The lyrics are pour your heart out poetic and the start/stop instrumentals accompanying fits them perfectly. Slow, meandering and twinkling build ups release into shrieking climaxes that make your hair stand on end. The Lazarus Plot made some of the most downright gut-wrenching and emotional songs of the genre. You can easily appreciate how dedicated the band was to their drab, dejected aesthetic and poetic nature.
Another thing to note about this band was their commitment to the D.I.Y lifestyle; with their 7" releases being haphazardly constructed from pop boxes and containing 40+ page zines (which will be included below). One more fun fact: the song Lifted by Bright Eyes is about the lead singer of this band.
To my knowledge there was a demo tape that exists but has yet to be digitized and spread online.
