Ecorche - Discography (1997-2000)

Ecorche was a hardcore band from Lincoln, Nebraska who were active through the late 90s. The band included members of post-hardcore band Bright Blue Calm. They released a self-titled 12", a split 7" with Foundation and a split 7" with Her Flyaway Manner.

Ecorche was a band I'd never heard of up until recently when we acquired a copy in MontrĂ©al and it has very quickly become a recent favourite of mine. Their mixture of melancholy guitar riffs, and both screamed and softly spoken vocals are reminiscent of Navio Forge. Ecorche tastefully and skillfully combines elements of chunky early 90s hardcore with the distinct pensiveness and refined sound of bands like Indian Summer and the dissonant chaos of bands like Reversal Of Man. Sometimes their guitar intros also remind me of Griver who are an all time favourite for me.

To me Ecorche really nails that perfect mix between the heavy and the melancholy creating the perfect so called "emocore" sound. They're definitely a band that deserves more attention and credit for their contribution to the hardcore scene. They're on par with some of the most appreciated bands from back then but never have seemed to reach the same level of appreciation. Listen below!
