Jon American Car AKA Ellen Jameson Society, was a post-hardcore band from Calgary, Alberta. I believe they were later known as Nine Days To Morgan (who I will cover in a future post), after a possible line-up change and definite change in sound. Truth be told as with many of these old Calgary bands, I don't know much about their history. They seemed to regularly play shows with other Calgary bands like First Class Champ, Joule, The Day After Tomorrow Band and The Alex P Keatons.
Even though they only produced a two song demo tape in their time together, Jon American Car displays a very interesting style of "emocore" that sounds entirely their own; they have a very repetitive (in a good way!), dynamic and constantly evolving sound that could be compared to bands like Hoover. I really wish this band had more material but the live footage and Nine Miles To Morgan releases are enough to satisfy me.
