Oktober Skyline was a hardcore band from Allentown, PA who were around in the early 2000s before splitting up around 2007. While active the band released a demo CDr, a 7", a 12"/CD and a split 7" with Get To The Chopper, then in 2020 their discography was released by Zegema Beach as a cassette and digitally.
Oktober Skyline has a sound all their own, full of chaos and discordant noise. Their abrasive, panic-ridden style is reminiscent of bands like The Great Redneck Hope and The Sawtooth Grin, but even weirder and more all over the map. Just when you think you get their sound, they throw you for a loop with an unexpected instrument, sample or unorthodox rhythm change.
Oktober Skyline were very much a product of their time, sharing similarities with a lot of fellow MySpace era, very maximalist, spazzy hardcore and metalcore. That being said, they stand out as being one of the most original sounding bands and whether their style is for you or not they are undeniably good at what they do.
Super happy Zegema Beach was able to release their discography in 2020 because they truly deserve more attention than they receive.
