Inkwell was an emotional hardcore band from Atlanta, Georgia. They were a band with an impressive and solid array of releases; 2 great 7"s, a split with the impeccable The Hal Al Shedad and a compilation track on the Placebo comp which featured Reversal Of Man, Order Of Importance and Prevail (3 other favourites!). They also had a couple unreleased tracks from an early session that recently surfaced online.
The Shine So Bright 7" lead the band in a new direction and is one of my most recommended 7"s to pick up, its absolutely essential. This 7" came out on Heliotrope which also released the stellar Coleman 7" and some early Converge stuff. Shine So Bright is a very typical but very solid "screamo" ballad, like Woolworm etc. Any fan of the genre would probably find themselves liking this song. Portrait is an equally successful trip into a more experimental direction. Overall this 7" is some of the most solid work I have seen in the scene. Powerful, emotional and catchy.
Check it out.
