The Day After Tomorrow Band were a three piece emo/hardcore/punk band from Calgary, Alberta who were around for a few brief years at the end of the 1990s. Their discography consists of just one demo tape, released in 1999 and some unreleased tracks that were later compiled onto a digital discography. Chris Vanderlaan of The Corta Vita and The Buzzing Bees played guitar and did vocals, Peter Pivovarov played drums and Shane Murphy did bass/vocals. A second guitarist, Jason (Unknown) joined in 2000 and played with the band for a short period before being replaced by Derek Hopfner.
The Day After Tomorrow Band's influences, according to Vanderlaan, include "Jasemine, Finger Print, Amber Inn, Wrought: Ironsmile etc". If that list of influences alone doesn't intrigue you I don't know what will! Their earlier songs sound a bit more punk, not quite as heavy as the later tracks which included a lot more screaming (you can definitely hear the Jasemine and Finger Print influence) and slightly heavier instrumentals. They remind me a little of Calgary peers, Joule as well as Still Life at times. Their music is the epitome of the late 90s "emo" sound and you can certainly tell they nailed the sound pretty quickly despite being criminally obscure.
