Lincoln - Discography (1992-1995)

Lincoln was a hardcore band from Morgantown, West Virginia. Despite originally only having an available output of 7 songs, Lincoln managed to cement themselves as one of the most influential post-hardcore bands of the early 90s. Lincoln blended the heaviness of the N.Y straight edge scene with the jagged time signatures and raw emotion of the D.C scene to create a sound that was truly unique. It's a shame that the band never released a full length LP  as the band showed staggering levels of progression in their sound on every concurrent release; I can only imagine what a Lincoln LP would have sounded like.

The sheer talent of this band is perfectly exhibited by the fact thank only 3 of their songs had that "emo" sound to them, yet they were endlessly influential to hardcore bands of the era. The song "Benchwarmer" off the Hoover Split 7" is one of my favourite "emo" tracks of all time and it showcases everything great about Lincoln and the burgeoning second wave of "emo".

Live 1993 w/ more unreleased tracks

Its unfortunate that Lincoln was only able to give 8 of their songs a proper release, with the Repair & Reward remaster, as the band had a wealth of unreleased material written that they regularly preformed live. The janky live tracks I have included below show how much of a powerhouse Lincoln was and how much potential they had. As Lincoln was back and playing shows in 2023, who knows... maybe we will see some new recordings of these songs sooner than later.
