The Chilling tale of Ink & Dagger began in the hallowed streets of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Vampires rose from their graves to crash house shows, get naked, sniff glue, light candles, throw yogurt at XVX bands and menace the hardcore punk scene. Showing up to shows in full makeup and coffins, Ink & Dagger took stage presence to another level to put on some truly legendary shows. Ink & Dagger was a cacophony of intensity and varied influences; snarky, heavy, fast and crazed was their gospel and their live show only helped to intensify the monstrous beast that was the dagger.
Unfortunately the band came to an end in 1999 and shortly afterwards, lead singer Sean McCabe tragically passed away in 2000 at the age of 27. One can only imagine what would have happened if Ink & Dagger continued, but I believe they could have made an even more lasting impression on the D.I.Y hardcore scene; as the direction they were heading in on their later releases was incredibly compelling and unique. The band briefly united with the lead singer of Thursday on vocals to play This Is Hardcore in 2010. Hopefully there will be more good things to come for them in the near future.
Do not listen to this band lest ye be cursed...
