The Interstate Ten was a fuzzed out indie-rock band from San Diego, California. Out of all the bands I describe as underrated on this blog, The Interstate Ten might just be the band that deserves that title the most. If the bands second album "Silverlakecreekbelowforestprimevil" wasn't released on a small D.I.Y label (San Diego's incredible Wrenched Records), I could see people describing this band as one of the better shoegaze-adjacent bands of the 90s. Out of all the great bands missed by the 90s major label feeding frenzy, to me The Interstate Ten qualifies as one of the most talented, they deserve a lot more attention and praise.
The Interstate Ten combined lofi, shoegaze, indie and the mad San Diego punk sound to create a compelling and unique sound that really stands out from the rest of the crowd. While the first album and it's demo like quality leaves a bit to be desired, the second album is a triumph of sound and songwriting. The song "April's Paper Rocket" from the second album is a favourite of mine, starting out with fuzzy, lo-fi driven acoustic guitar, the song explodes into a cathartic wall of sound that sounds absolutely incredible.
There was a demo tape but it has yet to surface online, please let us know if you have this demo or audio files from it! Same goes for any photos or live videos of the band.

This band must be really underrated. I've been heavily involved in the San Diego scene for 1990 through this very day and have never even heard of them. Truly obscure...haha.
