Tastes Like Burning - Discography (1999-2002)

Tastes Like Burning was a hardcore band from Charlottetown, P.E.I. Despite their international obscurity Tastes Like Burning was one of the most prolific and influential bands in the P.E.I punk scene at the time. Atlantic Canada housed some of the best Canadian punk bands in the late 90s and early 2000s and Tastes Like Burning was no exception. The band was D.I.Y to the core and their lyrics focused on political topics like women's rights and environmentalism. On their first album "The Slow Decay Of Compassion" Tastes Like Burning mixes the math-rock leanings of the Atlantic scene with shrieked vocals and frantic instrumentals that mirrored the sounds of bands like In Loving Memory and The Spirit Of Versailles.

On their second effort "The Imposition Of Order" Tastes Like Burning takes on a much heavier, crustier sound; with harsh, strained lead vocals and Jerome's Dream-esque backing vocals. You could compare them at this stage to more extreme bands like Love Lost But Not Forgotten. Tastes Like Burning had an interesting evolution and really proved themselves to be a unique and powerful band; one that shouldn't fly under the radar anymore.
