I was always was astounded by the amount of connections this band had to more popular bands of the era compared to how little attention they get. Embassy featured on some of the most stacked compilations like Hand Made Words, The Ghost Comp, Eucalyptus and the Element Records FNB CD. They were around in the most prolific era of the 90s D.I.Y hardcore scene and shared bills with bands like Indian Summer, Current, Chino Horde, Shotmaker and Evergreen.
Embassy created really catchy, melodic and intense emocore. The band continued to mature throughout their short existence, mastering the angularity of their peers most evidently on the "Eight Songs" LP. The Repercussion 7" is also a beast and is filled with unbridled emotion and intensity.
Embassy is one of those bands that should have been picked up by Numero or another similar label by now, but somehow they are still dwelling in near-obscurity. If you happen to run one of these labels, I'd say Embassy would be a great bet for a successful discography reissue.
We started this band at a party. Brian, Dan & i were jamming some riff i had and Waps just came flying in the room yelling...grabbed a mic and kept going...My band Manumission already had our "last show" booked and not wanting my senior year to go to bandless waste, i called Brian and asked if he would want to continue what we started at that party.
"Sure!"...
"Cool. I call Wapner & Dan about practicing"
Dan quit and we asked Cabe to join. A few weeks later i was at school hanging with Micheal Schuman before class. Something just ask this dude to play 2nd guitar...so i did. He accepted and the rest of the guys were totally cool with it. Once Mike was added our mix was complete. Mike later became a monk.
Thanks to 19x04 for the rip of the LP.
If anyone happens to have the Embassy demo, I would love to hear it.
Hand Made Words LP (I would love a FLAC rip of this!)
Follow N' Believe (FNB Comp CD)
Eight Songs LP 1995 (Outer Universe Research Records)
