Render Useless - Discography (1994-1998)

Render Useless was a hardcore band from Victoria B.C. The band served as a perfect bridge between the radical-political Canadian punk scene led by bands like I Spy and Propoghandi and the moody, burgeoning screamo circuit of the mid-late 90s B.C hardcore scene, consisting of bands like Breakwater and Instill. Starting off in 94' as a more Propoghandi-style punk band, Render Useless started off with a bang and kept that infectious energy throughout their 4 year reign.

The bands output from around the 96'-98' point is my personal favorite, as by this point Render Useless had really matured, both in terms of sound and radical political messaging. "The Second Flight Of Icarus" from the Republic Of Freedom Fighters split 7" is a real stand out track for me, its chalk full of classic punk energy while also having a unique screamo-tinged edge to it.

Render Useless's sound was an amalgamation of two specific punk offshoots that, outside of the B.C. scene (including bands like Submission Hold and Manner Farm) was rarely attempted, much less mastered in the way that Render Useless did.
