Cornelius was a hardcore band from Wilmigton, North Carolina. Chris Murray, the vocalist, also ran the influential label Assorted Porkchops. The band was a unique product of the North Carolina scene, while also taking heavy influence from bands like Assfactor 4, with a sound that was invigorating, manic and fresh. Much like Assfactor 4, Cornelius played at a blazing fast speed, with strained shrieking vocals while still managing to have a melodic and cohesive sound. The ST 10" is probably my favourite release by them and it displays all the bands best traits to stunning effect. The Terraforming 7" is a little slower and less intense but it has some interesting ideas behind the songs that play out well. Overall, Cornelius is worth the time to check out, especially if you like Assfactor 4!
