Ex-Ignota/IG-88 - Discography (1994-1997)

Ex-Ignota

Ex-Ignota was a hardcore band from Goleta, California. They initially formed in 1994 as IG-88, under which they released their demo tape before changing their name. They were active throughout a good portion of the 90s and released one album on CD, two 7"s, a split 7" and a split CD.

Ex-Ignota

Ex-Ignota mixes elements of punk, hardcore and post-hardcore seamlessly with an extremely experimental edge. They were a strange band to say the least, on top of their punk experimentation they combined elements of blues, post-rock, drone and noise to create an entirely unique sound that is unlikely to ever be duplicated.

I love the use of unconventional guitar riffs and drum rhythms in combination with the husky vocals that alternate from singing to straight up screaming. Ex-Ignota has a hard sound to describe because they were really doing their own thing; they had a total lack of conformity in the way they played.

IG-88

Their Lazarus Is Back To Report - Sunny Skies In Heaven 7" is a staple of that mid 90s Ebullition sound, and yet it doesn't sound much like any other Ebullition releases from the time. Being on a label with so many other great releases, Ex-Ignota's work is often overlooked, however they're a really interesting band. Their discography is really diverse and varies in sound while still being distinctly Ex-Ignota's sound.
