Mohinder was an emotional hardcore band from Cupertino, California. The band included members of Duster, Jenny Piccolo, Eiafuawn, Valium Aggelein, Calm, Makara, The Anasazi and more. They were only active for a year but left a huge mark on the scene and released a pretty extensive discography one that time. They released three 7"s, a split 7" with Nitwits and then after breaking up, a discography CD/12" containing a few live tracks was released in 2001. They also appeared on a few compilations and played some reunion shows in the late 90s.
Their self-titled 7" might be one of my favourite ideas for a cover I've ever seen, they use different cutouts from fashion magazine ads and then print "Mohinder" in gold text overtop creating a collage-like look.
Mohinder is just a staple of DIY hardcore of the 90s in my mind, they had their sound down to a science right from the beginning and you can hear their influence in countless other bands to come. They had that perfect combination of heavy, fast hardcore you can move to with a touch of "emo" evident in some guitar riffs and the vocals. Needless to say if you haven't listened to Mohinder yet, you're missing out.
