Shahrazad - Discography (1996-1997)

Shahrazad was a hardcore band based in Buttonwillow, California. Their material was notable for being ahead of its time, which may help explain the numerous posthumous releases that have surfaced since their disbandment. The band's sound was characterized by a chunky, heavy style, featuring desperately screamed vocals that draw loose comparisons to bands like Takaru, Makara, and Rhuheada.

Shahrazad's music encapsulated a distinct moment in the D.I.Y. hardcore scene, blending influences from classic "emocore" bands such as Indian Summer and Hoover with a heavier, driving sound that would later gain widespread popularity. For me, Shahrazad is one of those bands that bridges the gap between mid-90s and late-90s "emocore," providing valuable context for the gradual changes in sound that the scene experienced.
