Torches To Rome - Discography (1995-1999)

Torches To Rome was a hardcore band from the Bay Area, California who were active through a good chunk of the 90s but only ever released a demo tape and one LP containing the same songs as the demo plus a handful more. The band combined Aaron Lee Schlieve of Portraits of Past, Steve Chamberlain of Ned Kelly and the seminal Sarah Kirsch of Bread and Circuits, John Henry West and Navio Forge to name a few.

Torches To Rome was a product of three very talented musicians and it's very much evident in their recorded output. Everything Sarah Kirsch touched was incredible, she doesn't get nearly enough credit for how involved she was in the Bay Area scene.

Torches To Rome had a powerful and aggressive energy topped off with an impeccable melody and groove. The members sound very in sync with each other, never missing a beat or dropping the passionate energy. You can hear elements of all the members but in particular Torches To Rome sounded similar to other bands involving Sarah Kirsch like Bread and Circuits or Navio Forge.

Torches To Rome's 12" album is one of those nearly perfect hardcore records, it just hits all the marks and satisfies on every listen. Ebullition had a lot of releases I'd put in this category but Torches To Rome sits at the top of the list.
